Even if your site receives thousands of visitors a day, it’s all useless if you can’t turn them into income. You must find several ways to make money from your website.
That’s why I decided to introduce the 5 most popular ways to make money from your website. As usual, I included real life examples for each of them as well.
These examples come from real people who are no different from you or me. I hope they’ll inspire you to get started and persist.
Also, I’ve added a rough estimate about how much money you can make with these monetization models. You can also see how long it takes to get there.

1.Advertisments
The most popular way to make money from your website is through advertisements. Once you have enough traffic, you can display third party ads like Google AdSense, Kontera, InfoLinks
or Chitika. They will always display related ads to the content of your site. Anytime a visitor clicks on them, you make some money.
How much money can you make
It depends on your niche, how many visitors you have, how your ads look like and so on. There are so many factors involved, it would be hard to tell for sure. Your income can vary from a few dollars to tens of thousands of dollars per month.
How much time does it take
Again, it depends on many factors. The most important factor, however, is traffic. The sooner you get a lot of targeted visitors, the sooner you’ll start making money from your site. It can take anywhere from a few months to 2 or 3 years to start making some decent money.
Real Life Example - Ads
Birgit Bradtke is an inspiration female entrepreneur. Her site at www.outback-australia-travelsecrets. com/ is a great example of how anyone can build a successful online business about something they’re passionate about. It’s also a great example of how you can make money with advertisements.
Thanks to the money she makes from Google AdSense, she was able to leave her soulsucking job only 15 months after starting.
If you visit her website and click around a little bit, you’ll notice the AdSense ads right away.
You can see a real life example of how making money from your website can lead to freedom.
2.Affiliate Programs
The second most popular way to make money from your website is through affiliate programs. Once you join an affiliate network, you can choose from a variety of products to promote. Anytime you manage to convince a visitor to buy a product, you get a certain percentage of its price.
RECOMMENDED: In reality, there are two groups of affiliate marketers. Group #1 struggles to make even a few cents and gives up, while Group #2 makes so much money every month that they themselves don't believe their eyes.
Which group do you want to belong to?
If your read Ken Evoy's Affiliate Masters Course, you'll know exactly what you need to do to become a 6-figure earner affilaite yourself, in as little as 1 or 2 years. In fact, Allan Gardyne, the #1 affiliate expert in the world, offers this course as the best way to get started in affiliate marketing and succeed.
How much money can you make
Once again, it depends on your circumstances: your niche, your products, the commission, how many visitors you have, the conversion rate etc... Your income can be as little as a few dollars or as high as thousands of dollars a month.
How much time does it take
You can’t setup a successful affiliate business overnight. You have to work at least 5-6 months before you start seeing some results. Everything depends on how soon you can get targeted traffic.
Real Life Example - Affiliate Marketing
Meet Rupert Farrow from www.dj-tips-and-tricks.com. He started out as an affiliate for DJ equipment vendors.
He managed to generate more than $350.000 in sales in just over a year. If you click around his site you’ll see how he uses his affiliate links to sell these products.
Of course, he does so only after providing high-value information to his visitors. It’s very important if you want to succeed: building a site with the sole intention of making money is a doomed approach. You must care about your visitors and help them!
You can read Rupert’s full story here to di scover how hegenerated more than $350.000 in sales.
3.Selling Your Coaching and Services
Another popular way to make money from your website is through offering coaching or consultations. For example, many internet marketing “gurus” charge hundreds of dollars per hour for consultations via telephone, email or Skype. PerryMarshall’s hourly rate is $1.500 if I remember correctly.
RECOMMENDED: If you'd like to make a killing by selling your own services online, I have good news! Ken Evoy created another excellent resource, called The Service Sellers Masters Course to help you drive targeted leads to your service oriented business.
It will take you by the hand and show you in 153 pages exactly how and what you need to do to earn a decent living online by selling your services.
You'll have more customers than you can handle! There's no other course of its kind, at least not at this low price.
How much money can you make
I must be sounding like a broken record, but as you can see, it depends on your circumstances.
If you’re in a niche where visitors are willing to pay hundreds of dollar per hour, you can make millions. Otherwise, you may have to be satisfied with “only” a few thousands dollars per month.
How much time does it take
Building a successful website and establishing credibility with your visitors is a long procedure. Don’t expect to receive dozens of inquires just for throwing up a site. It can take years to make money from your website using this method.
Real Life Example - Coaching and Consultations
Patty Knutson from www.vegancoach.com offers her own coaching services. No wonder, she receives more than 75.000 unique visitors a month.
You can visit her coaching offer at http://www.vegancoach.com/vegan-coaching.html
However, as she admits, this is not the only way she makes money from her website. She created eCourses and eBooks to sell, and she uses Google AdSense as well.
I suggest you read her success story as well. Again, I hope you’ll see how doable it is to build a successful online business. You can succeed, too.
4.Selling products
Selling products (either e-goods or hard goods) is also a great way to make money from your website. You can create these products yourself or even collaborate with manufacturing companies.
RECOMMENDED:
If you're interested in building a residual income business by publishing a successful e-product (like an eBook), Make Your Knowledge Sell! is the best resource you can ever read!
It will teach you in 180 pages how to make money from your website by selling your own eBook.
Again, Ken Evoy used to sell it for $40+, but now he's giving it away totally FREE! Don't miss out on this chance to turn your knowledge into profits. Just download MYKS! and start reading it now for free!
How much money can you make
The sky is the limit. There are people who make six figures a year by selling products via their websites. A lot depends on outside circumstances, but the most important factors are traffic and the price of your products.
How much time does it take
It can take anywhere from a few months to a few years to become a successful vendor.
Real Life Example - Selling Products
Louann Shenberger from www.wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com has an amazing success story to share.
She sells hard goods via her website. Her products are obviously wedding flower related. You can visit her websit e to s ee how she ’s doing it .
What’s so amazing about her story?
She knew nothing about building an online business, yet she managed to make over $40.000 and receive more than 8 million visitors in the first two years.
5. Local Offline Business Revenue
Having a website can be tremendously helpful in increasing the revenue of your local offline
business. It can be a great tool to drive targeted customers to your store.
How much money can you make
It depends on the nature of your local business. I’m sure you can do the math for yourself better than I.
How much time does it take
As much as it takes to set up any other successful website. Around 15 months you should start seeing some results.
Real Life Example – Driving Offline Sales
Here’s a story about an offline entrepreneur named Richard. He’s the successful owner of
He never intended to become an “internet marketer” or even a webmaster, but he had to face the reality: the average person’s best chance at breaking free is through the internet… even if he wants to succeed offline or locally.
He designed his own woodwork product and –after more than $50.000 and hundedrs of hours of frustration – started selling it on the net.

My recommendations
- Don’t worry about implementing monetization models until you have enough traffic. Personally, I’d wait at least I have a hundred visitors daily before trying to make any money.
- Before you set up your website, make sure it’s in a profitable niche. No matter how much traffic you get, if they are not interested in spending any money, you’re doomed.
- Test, test, test and then test some more. It can have a huge effect on your income.
